This Community Fundraising Ideas guide will help give you ideas on choosing a suitable community fundraising activity or event as well as help you to get started fundraising!

Choosing Your Fundraising Activity/Event

Successful fundraising takes preparation. Start slowly and build up your fundraising as you gain confidence and experience. Start with something simple that you feel able to achieve and remember to enjoy the process.

Keep the word ‘fun’ in fundraising!

Think of social or sporting activities that appeal to your family, friends, colleagues and to you, and try and incorporate them into your fundraiser. Such as a fair day, golf tournament, dinner party or sponsored activities like a walk or bike ride. Anything that you like to do a lot of!

Involve family and friends

Start talking about your fundraising activity to family and friends. Gage their level of support and interest. Did they volunteer to help? Did they say they’d like to attend? Did they say it is a great idea? Gaining support and commitment of your idea at the beginning will help support you throughout the fundraising activity/event.

Decide on your fundraising activity/event

There are many different types of fundraising activities to choose from or you can come up with something new. Fundraising can be as simple as hosting a party or as detailed as organising a large charity auction. Both require a level of commitment and time.
